Indentation 2025 symposium will be held at Besançon, in France, from the 1st to 3th of October 2025. Every two years, this symposium gathers academics and engineers involved in the field of mechanical characterisation of surfaces. This year, the symposium will be organised by Femto-st Institute and LPMT.

Two half-day training sessions, following the same format as previous editions, will be held on September 30 afternoon and October 1 morning. All participants are welcome, especially students.

Place
The symposium, training session and cocktail reception will be held at SUPMICROTECH-ENSMM, on the Bouloie campus.
The gala dinner will be held at the Espace Grammont diocesan center, right in the heart of Besançon's historic city center.
Language
Communications, exhibitions and related activities will be in French or English.The organizing committee encourages you to illustrate your remarks (slides and posters) in English to allow better understanding by non-French speakers.
EMPREINTE 2025 thesis prize
The “Empreinte” thesis prize, worth €1,000 to reward outstanding thesis work in the field of indentation, will be awarded at the next Indentation symposium in October 2025 in Besançon. The call for applications has been published for theses defended between April 2023 and March 2025. Applications, in electronic format, must include : 1. a summary of the thesis (1 page with 1 figure) 2. an extended CV of the doctoral student (3 pages max), including a list of publications (highlighting publications during the thesis and the link with indentation tests or derived tests). If applicable, indicate the date of submission if the article has not yet been accepted. 3. thesis referees' reports 4. defense report 5. thesis dissertation
